Current obsession: Sheet masks

Hi guys!

This post was requested by Olivia, she has been nagging me every time I see her. If you haven't checked out her blog yet, here it is: http://oliviiaaaaa.blogspot.com.au/

When I first got into skincare/ makeup I was really interested with different sheet masks and their different purposes were. These days I use them for mainly hydration purposes since I have really dry skin. I would use one of these 2-4 times a week depending on how my skin is, after I exfoliate.

My Beauty Diary Face Masks in Black Pearl
(recently bought so I haven't had time to fully test this out yet)

Aquamoist Moisture Face Masks (mention in one of my previous hauls)

The Face Shop

Innisfree

Tony Moly

Missha

Some random sheet mask I got from my hotel room while I was in South Korea,
Etude House Red Ginseng mask

My favourite out of the bunch. I haven't used this but it's the package I love.
If you're a KPOP fan then you will know who these guys are. They're my favourite KPOP group OF ALL TIME

Some samples I got while in South Korea. I was so surprised as to how generous people are when it comes to samples. I would purchase one item and get like 3 free samples. Gotta love it!

Most of these sheet masks are either my first or second purchase and although they claim to have different targeted treatments, I use them for hydration purposes, but ones that I have found work for me are: Aquamoist Moisture Face Masks, The Face Shop Hyaluronic Acid Mask and The Face Shop Aloe Mask (not shown).

Of course there has been a small number of masks that have broken me out: The Face Shop Rice mask, and there are some other ones from The Face Shop but I can't remember the names of them.

Overall I think sheet masks are great for hydrating the skin, and they can be used before applying makeup so that your skin is smoother and more fresh looking. Because you can't really get a tester sample of sheet masks, you have to take the risk of trying them not knowing if they break you out or not. Read different reviews to see which ones will most likely work for you.

See you all soon! ^_^

Nails of the week

Hi guys!

Last week I posted about the nail polish I wore for the week, so I'm here to talk about how it wore and my new polish I have on.

The formula of the previous polish (The Face Shop Lovely ME:EX in PK109) wasn't too bad. I saw a tiny chip on the third day on the corner of my nail, and got obvious chipping on the 6th day. I used Cutex Long Wear Top Coat on top of the polish and it seems to have made the polish last a bit longer than without it. Love the colour and the formula of this isn't too bad, and considering it to be pretty cheap I recommend this polish for those that want a pretty pink colour.

This weeks polish:
Nature Republic polish in BL502

This colour is a deep blue with super small shimmers in it which makes the polish metallic looking.  It's super easy to apply and you can get away with only one coat! I used two coats and its pretty true to the colour from the bottle. It dries alot faster than the polish from The Face Shop.

Keep a lookout next week for the final verdict on this polish! See you soon ^_^

What's in my bag?

Hi guys!

I thought I would share what I have in my bag. Honestly I don't have alot of things that I need in my bag, and  I don't use a makeup bag just because I'm really lazy when it comes to touching up my makeup. So here it is!

Samsung MV800 camera.

I love this camera! Although I rarely use it, I bring it everywhere with me.

Top to bottom: Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm, The Body Shop Born Lippy in Plum

I always carry some sort of lip balm with me because my lips can get dry really easily and some times my lips can feel swollen after eating (not sure why). My favourite lip balm as of now is the one from The Body Shop. Will do a full review later on this week. The Nivea one is ok, not going to repurchase it though.

Left to right: some random Korean hard lollies, Eclipse Mints

I'm definitely a mint girl. I rarely have gum because some can give me a weird after taste and I feel like the minty-ness of mints last longer ( and you never know when you're going to have bad breath). And I always keep something sweet in my bag.

This is just a sample container of the Lancome Hydra Zen cream. I used all of the product so now I just keep my Cetaphil Moisturiser in it for times where I feel like I'm getting dry patches on my face.

I don't wear contacts so I always bring my glasses with me where ever I go. These are from Ray-Ban and I've had them for years! They are the basic black frames, nothing special really.

This my wallet that I have. It's from Oroton, which I got for my 17th birthday from my parents. Love this wallet! It keeps all of my cards and can carry lots of coins (which tends to happen to me).

And that's it! I know it isn't much but sometimes I feel like there really isn't a need to carry so much things in your bag. One main reason why I carry so little things is that my shoulders are pretty weak, so if I have a heavy bag with me, my shoulders are aching the next day so I try to keep my bag as light as possible.

See you soon! ^_^

Beauty Blogger Tag

Hi guys!

So I was looking at Jasmines blog and I saw a post on this tag, so I thought it would be fun if I did one too! You can check her post here: http://www.sweetaholic-beauty.com/2012/05/beauty-blogger-tag.html

1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
wavy! not necessarily straight but doesn't really have curls either... if that makes sense

2. What is your natural hair colour?
black.

3. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
I've always gone to the salon. I don't trust myself when it comes to something as problematic as hair dyeing

4. How often do you wash your hair?
Every 2-3 days. My hair is really dry and doesn't get oily quickly so I have no problems with my hair getting too oily

5. Do you wear the same style everyday or change it?
Most of the time I have the same hairstyle. If I have time to spare then I might curl my hair, but most of the time I have my hair straightened or just left alone.

6. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
I've never been to a salon for mani/pedi's. Don't have the time or money!

7. How often do you change your nail polish?
Usually when it's chipped to the point where I can't stand looking at it anymore, so usually a week

8. Do you polish your toes in the winter, too or just in the summer?
Honestly I just do it whenever I feel like it, which most of the time I don't bother

9. How long does it take to put on your makeup?
15-20 minutes for everyday makeup. On most days I don't bother with eye makeup because I don't want to be worrying whether my eye makeup has smudged or not.

10. What do you do first? Face or eyes?
Face

11. Do you "collect" makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?
When I started with makeup (around 16-17) I just bought the basics and only used it for special occasions, but after starting this blog, I feel like I'm collecting...

12. How often do you wear false lashes?
I've only worn them out once. I don't feel the need to wear them because I'm satisfied with my lashes after mascara.

13. Do you do a full face of makeup everyday?
Hm... well I use B.B cream and concealer pretty much every day I'm going to uni, and sometimes a lip product, but that's pretty much it. I don't want to look over done and there's noone to impress T_T

14. Do you wear makeup when you are at home (or with family)?
Nope, I feel relaxed at home and my skin needs to breathe on the weekends since I wear makeup 5 days a week.

15. Will you leave the house without makeup?
When I think about it now, most of the time I'm out of the house I have makeup on.

16. How many high end products do you have?
I'm actually REALLY stingy when it comes to high end products. Right now I only have 3; Lancome Juicy tubes 'in a jar' (which Lancome came out with AGES ago) which I got for my previous birthdays, Lancome Hydra Zen Moisturiser and Lancome L'Absolu Nu lipstick which I got as a sample.

17. How often do you wash your makeup brushes?
This is SUPER important when it comes to makeup application, but I'm so lazy when it comes to this. Usually every 2 weeks...

18. Do you plan your OOFD every night or decide when you are getting dressed?
If I have a event to go to or if I don't have anything to do then I'll think about what to wear, but most of the time I decide what I wear right when I need to change.

19. How often do you change your handbag?
I usually change my bags depending on what I'm doing for the day. I switch in between 3 bags

20. What time do you get up and go to sleep?
I usually sleep in between 1-4am which is sooo bad for my sleeping pattern because some days I need to wake up at 6 which means on some days I only get 2 hours of sleep...

21. How often and when do you work out?
"Work out" is not in my dictionary! I'm SUPER lazy when it comes to exercise, although I love playing sport!  While I was in high school I loved dodge-ball, volleyball, soccer/football, and high jump. I only go on the treadmill when I'm super determined to get healthy (pretty much once every 3 months...)

22. Left or right handed?
I write with my right, but I can do many things with my left. Usually when you play cards and you deal them out, right handed people use their right hand to deal the cards but for some reason I use my left.

23. How tall are you?
Around 165cm. When I'm with my group of friends I feel like a giant!

24. Do you speak a foreign language?
I can speak English (obviously) and Vietnamese. I learnt Italian when I was 8 and again at 12 for a year but I barley any phrases, learnt Japanese for 2 years; I only know the basics, and I'm teaching myself Korean which I think I'm pretty pro at since I was in South Korea for 2 weeks and understood 70-80% of what people said.

25. How many pets do you have?
Unfortunately my parents don't let me have pets... I would love having a dog (preferably Huskies. love them to bits!) and a fighting fish (kinda random)

26. How often are you on Blogger?
I think I'm obsessed with blogging...

27. Do you read the comments posted on blogs?
When I feel like it

28. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
I'll keep it in my head so if I see the product in stores, then I consider trying it out

29. How did you come up with your blog name?
Simple really. I wanted to blog mainly about beauty related stuff and I'm a blogger --> beautybloggr

30. What kind of camera do you use for photographs?
Samsung MV800 in White. I LOVE THIS CAMERA!!! I got this while I was in South Korea and I can't say more good things about this camera, but one thing I gotta say is that it's super sensitive when I take close-up pictures which means that it can get blurry in pictures. You can check out the camera here: http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/camera-camcorder/compact-cameras/2-view/EC-MV800ZBPBAU

31. How often do you clean you house?
Pretty much every week. I'm pretty lazy, but when I feel like cleaning, then EVERYTHING IS CLEAN. There was one day where I cleaned my room to the point where my floors were literally squeaky clean. But I can mess up my room in a day or two

32. What is your favourite colour?
Right now it's red. It changes depending on my mood. Most of the time its green. Here's a random fact about me; I REALLY HATE PINK I'm not sure why but I just do. But there's one exception which is Hello Kitty Stuff. Not sure why that is either.

33. What is your favourite beauty/ fashion magazine?
Honestly I don't read magazines. But when I do (which is rare) then I'll pick up CeCi and Mina. I think both of them are Asian magazines.

34. Do you swear?
Only when I'm really angry/frustrated about something. Most of the time I don't. I get really put off by people that swear as if it was an everyday word

35. What are you doing for the rest of the day?
Well it's night time right now, so I'm planning to finish watching I Do I Do (korean drama) episode 16 (last ep T_T).

MAN THAT WAS A SUPER LONG TAG! Well I hope you enjoyed reading if you have read the whole thing (thank you! ^_^) and if you guys have anything you want me to discuss, beauty related or Korean related then leave a comment and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. See you soon ^_^

Lippie Hunt!

Hi guys!

So today I thought of buying some lip products and I thought I would try one of the Revlon Lip Butters. I'm really late on this, but better late than never. I only got one just in case I didn't like them (which I was praying that I don't since they have gotten such good reviews). I got Creme Brulee. I wanted to try a nude lip colour and was debating whether I should get this or Creamsicle but I chose Creme Brulee just in case Creamsicle was too light for me. The colour suits me really well but it does show my chapped lips just a bit. I will definitely get more in the future!

I was wondering around Priceline and I saw these and I was really tempted to buy this.

The Face of Australia Sheer Gloss Lip Crayons

Left to right: Sundae, Cupcake, Macaron

I honestly didn't have any expectations for this but I'm so glad I got these! They're super creamy and very hydrating. As their name, they are quite sheer but buildable. I actually prefer these than the lip butter which really surprised me. I was really scared of trying out the brown shade but I REALLY like the colour on my lips. It has a hint of brown and my natural lip colour shows through. They all smell the same which I found weird because I'm use to having lip products that smell according to the 'flavour' but the scent isn't noticeable unless you have it close to your nose. If you see this in stores then definitely pick these up! (not sure if they sell this outside of Australia).

If you guys have any lip product recommendations then please leave them in the comments. I would love to try them out! See you all soon ^_^

Nails of the week

Hi guys!

With my growing obsession with polishes, I thought it would better if I made it a weekly thing; to show what I'm wearing and what I think of them. So, here's the first one!

The Face Shop Lovely ME:EX in PK109

I've used quite a few nail polishes from The Face Shop and I've realised that some of the colours have different formulas and have different effects. This polish is unfortunately on the crappy end of the spectrum. I love this colour; a darkened baby pink, not too cool toned and not to warm. The first 2 layers were ok, but as I added another layer, it ended up really streaky and for some reason, I felt that the formula itself became thicker. It needs at least 3 coats for this to have you nails fully covered with no streaky areas.

What I've found with all of their polishes is that they take FOREVER to dry. What I do to make my polishes dry faster is after I've applied the polish the way I want it, I wait for it surface to dry (5-10 minutes) and wait another half an hour just in case it hasn't dried properly, then I leave my nails in cold water for about 2 minutes. I do this 2-4 times throughout the day just in case I go to sleep and wake up getting weird prints on my nails (which use to happen to me ALOT).

The colour itself is a bit darker than how it looks in the bottle, but it's still quite a flattering colour.

Rating: 3/5

Overall the colour is great, but the formula of the polish needs to improve. I'll mention the lasting effects of the polish in my next post. Until then, please become a follower and keep a look out for more product reviews! ^_^

Mini Haul

Hi guys!

So after class today I bought some things and I thought it would be nice to share what I got. I first went to The Face Shop to buy an eye shadow I was eyeing for a while.

Lovely ME:EX eyes in WH001 $9

Blended

I was looking for a good matte white eye shadow to use as a base and as a highlight. I like the look of a matte highlighter rather than shimmer because I think it looks more natural and the shimmer doesn't migrate all over the face. When I swatched this I was quite surprised as to how nice it was. It's not chalky whatsoever  and can be build-able.

Left to right: Real Nature Mask Lemon $3, Fresh Fruit Grape Mask Sheet (for healthy skin) $4, Fresh Fruit Acerola Mask Sheet (for clearer skin) $4.

Every time I go to The Face Shop, I can't help but buy mask sheets. They just do wonders for my dry skin and I haven't come across one that has reacted badly to my skin (which I'm very thankful for). I haven't tried any of these yet, so I'll update you guys on how they go.

St. Ives Green Tea Scrub $9
I was using the Apricot scrub and it worked really well with my skin (although most people get bad reactions with this product) but I wanted something more gentle so that I can use it more than once a week. I've heard good reviews on this so I thought I would try it out.

EcoTools Concealer Brush $7

I wanted a concealer brush to see whether it has a better finish than using fingers (which is what I do to apply concealer). First of all, the bristles are really soft and stiff. The ends is tapered which is what I was looking for. I'll give this a few uses and get back to you guys on how it is.

So that's all I got. If you have any recommendations on products from The Face Shop, please leave a comment and I might try it out. See you soon ^_^

Review: The Face Shop Hydro Splash B.B Cream

Hi guys!

I wanted to show you guys one of my first B.B creams I tried out.

This B.B cream is supposedly 70% water and is "skin tone correcting moisture rich  formula protects, soothes and gives a natural coverage. It has a SPF of 20 and does have light floral scent to it.

Honestly, there isn't a lot of things I like about this B.B cream and it disappointed me quite a bit since this was the first B.B cream I've ever tried. When I swatched this on my hand I thought that this would match me well (they only have one shade) but once I put this on my face and started blending, it gave me a ghostly look. It has a super obvious grey cast to it and once it oxidises, it was still too light for me. It does give a matte finish but I find that it can show flaky patches if you have SUPER dry and flaky skin. Not sure about oil control since I don't have oily skin.

I've had this for a few months now and the way I use it is after applying a foundation I would apply this to places where I want it to look lighter like under my eyes, around my nose and around my mouth. I also use this to lighten my foundations that are too dark for me.

Blended

If your looking for a B.B cream to try out, this isn't the one. Even though I have quite pale skin, this makes me look like a ghost, but if you need to find something to lighten your foundation, then I guess I could recommend this. But otherwise, save your money on a better B.B cream (Missha Perfect Cover B.B Cream) . See you soon ^_^

Review: OPI "Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow"

Hi guys!

So in one of my last posts, I mentioned getting a new OPI polish and I've decided to review it for you guys! First of all the colour is darker than I thought. When I looked at it on the swatch in the store it looks really pretty and had an obvious green colour to it, but when I put it on my own nails it was really dark; almost black. with indoor lighting it just looks black and with bright light it looks like a super dark green. If you're looking for an alternative colour to black, than this colour would be nice, but otherwise it's not a colour you would rave about. This colour doesn't actually have any glitters or shimmer in it. Personally I think it would look more flattering if it had a bit of glitters in it.

The quality of the polish kind of disappointed me. Within two days of me wearing it, it started to chip on the corner of my nails. Not sure why the formula is bad in this polish.

Above: OPI polish in "Here Today... Aragon tomorrow"
The picture doesn't show the green from the polish but in real life you would be able see a hint of it.

Rating: 3/5

That's all for this post. If you want to see a post about my favourite polishes then leave a comment and I will do one as soon as possible. See you soon ^_^

Being Happy

Hi guys!

Ok, so this isn't going to be about beauty but more like the beauty within ourselves. I just watched this video and it has inspired me to see the good in our lives, instead of just seeing the worst in ourselves. It isn't just the materialistic things that makes us happy, it can be such the simplest things as well. I don't want to repeat the speech from this video, but I honestly hope that you guys see that there is light on the other side of the tunnel.

Biggest Spurge

Hi guys! ^_^

So yesterday I went shopping with my family, and ended up buying a bag from Oroton, which is an Australian Luxury Brand. You can check out their products here: http://www.oroton.com/

I love the brand because not only they have great quality bags and alike, they are also an Australian! And that means I'm supporting Australian jobs and economy, and I like the thought of myself helping Australian jobs in some way.

They where having this massive sale in stores and although I wasn't planning to get anything, my eyes were drawn to this bag. Lets just say, the original price for this bag was SUPER EXPENSIVE, but luckily I got to save $250AUS!!

Beauty Tag + Weird habits

I read and watched a few tags and I thought that I should do one too! and this way I can let you guys know me a little bit more. So let's get straight into it! ^_^
